Maritime Pew Bench

This bench was specially commissioned by a customer who came with some of the old pews from St. Columba's Church of Scotland in Lerwick. In 2009 the Church was reopened following major refurbishment which included new seating. We were asked to make outdoor seating from the pews and I came up with this bench inspired by a nautical theme.

It's always nice to recreate something new out of used wood. It feels like we are breathing new life into old timber and by recycling we help to maintain the world's forests.

Although the piece is brand new it has a history due to the previous use of the wood. A history which has significance for the customer and gives an added dimension to owning a unique and beautiful piece of craftsmanship such as this.
